I think people are overreacting to the idea of using them for non-professional purposes. For example, if you are going to a wedding or something like that, you can just use a backdrop or frame.
Sure, but what about if you are going to a wedding, or a wedding party, or a bar, or an office party? What if you want to have a “forgettable” party? If you use a transparent background (like the one I have here) you can add an invisible border around all of the content in the image so no one can see what’s going on in the background.
This is a very interesting new feature that I think is gonna end up being very useful on the web. Imagine if every image of your web page had a transparent background. When people click on them they might think that they’re getting a full picture. They might not even look at all. Think about how that would make your site look if you had a thousand logos on the page and they all had the same background.
I can already see a lot of companies incorporating this feature into their web pages. It may not be a big enough change for everyone, but it might be the way to go.

The problem is that it works best with your website’s logo, but it doesn’t really work for you. It will only be visible if someone uses the transparent background option. I don’t know what other options you have if you don’t have a logo or a transparent background, but I have to say that if I had to choose another option, I would probably make it a transparent background option.
It would be nice if you could use your website logo, but unless you have a transparent background option, it’s not going to work that well.
